What is Paleo/Primal? 

In the short version Paleo/Primal is eating real food. The kind of food you grandparents and great grandparents ate. I know you were probably expecting more but in reality its very simple.

The term Paleo simply refers to the way our ancestors ate millions of years ago in the paleolithic era. In a time before breads, pasta, cookies, sodas, candy and processed food. People that follow a paleo lifestyle (notice how I didn’t say diet? That was intentional. Paleo refers to much more than a diet but is a lifestyle) have chosen to eliminate certain foods and/or whole food groups from their diets. Things that have been eliminated consist of:

  • Grains
  • Bean/legumes
  • Sugar
  • Industrial and Polyunsaturated oils
  • Processed food

All of these things in our diet create inflammation in our body. This inflammation can lead to many common and tragic diseases we deal with today such as; diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, cancers, skin disorders, autoimmune conditions, heart disease, and neurological disorders to name a few. Once these things have been eliminated the body can now begin the healing process.

What can I eat?

What your left with is wholesome food! Eat as much as you’d like of the following:

  • Meat/fish
  • Vegetables
  • nuts/seeds
  • Full fat dairy (If tolerated)
  • Fruit
  • Fat
